Abstract

Summary. The article analyzes fiction as the art of speech. The problem of education and personality development through literary education is revealed. The role of literary education in preschool age as a basis for the development of reading activity in primary school, as well as the importance of a children's book, which is an important means of various influences on the personality, is clarified. The role of reading lessons in primary school is substantiated. The psychological and pedagogical features of the perception of an artistic work by younger schoolchildren were studied. The main aspects of literary education of primary school students are analyzed. The purpose and main tasks of literary reading in primary grades are characterized. The components of reading activity, as well as the quality of reading, are defined, among which a significant role belongs to conscious reading. The process of working on an artistic work in different types of lessons, methods of working on an artistic text, the role of developing students' creative activity on the basis of reading for literary education is considered. The implementation of literary education in the interrelationship of classroom, extracurricular reading, extracurricular and extracurricular educational work has been studied. Forms of extracurricular work on literature are proposed and their influence on the formation and development of personality is revealed. Extracurricular forms of education, which are proposed to be used for literary education, are given. The significance of libraries of general secondary education institutions for the organization of literary education, as well as the relationship between a teacher and a librarian in conducting educational activities, is indicated. The types of library lessons that contribute to the education of reading culture, self-education skills and self-realization are highlighted. The role of cooperation with parents in the formation of interest in the book is highlighted.
